Operating System Requirements

Since Moodle is web-based, it is operating system independent. You can therefore use Linux, MacOS (10.x) or Windows to work with us. There is no need to install any special software in order to access the NSUK online learning environment.

Family Support

Each family needs to provide the following:

COMPUTER HARDWARE

  • A computer running Linux, Mac OSX, or Windows,
  • A minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600,
  • Internet connectivity,
  • A soundcard and speakers,
  • A printer,
  • A scanner may be useful but is not essential.
 

 

COMPUTER SOFTWARE

  • OpenOffice or
  • Microsoft Word 97 or above (Word 98 on MacOS),
  • A modern web browser,(NSUK strongly recommends Firefox)
  • Information and Communication Technology students will need to have Microsoft Office 97 or above,
  • An email client such as Thunderbird or Outlook Express,
  • Up-to-date anti-virus software (we recomment that your anti-virus softeware is set to up-date automatically),
  • We recommend the use of a firewall.
  • NSUK's official document format is Microsoft's .doc format. All work sent to tutors MUST be in this format
  • You MUST have a working knowledge of your computer's operating system and be able to use the Internet.
